SHODEN (LEVEL 1):
Shoden is the Japanese word for 'first teaching' as this is the first step one takes in the ongoing journey toward self realisation through the system of Reiki.
Within Shoden you learn the essence of the system: How it works, its benefits and why we need to practise on ourselves. Self-healing is the focus of Shoden. A wonderful by-product of this personal awareness is that you will also learn the skills to be able to help your friends and family.
After completing Shoden you will feel competent in progressing further on your quest for internal happiness and well being — equipped with the traditional techniques taught to you. For those interested in working on a deeper and more professional level, Okuden (Level II) will be the next step.

OKUDEN (Level 2):
Okuden is a Japanese word meaning 'inner teachings'. As the word implies a deeper understanding and connection to Usui Mikao’s teachings is achieved during this course. This level teaches how to connect to Earth and Heaven energy, the first steps to becoming fully integrated with the universe. This is achieved through the practise of symbols and mantras. It will enable the student to enhance his/her own energy levels and sensitivity.

SHINPIDEN (Level 3):Shinpiden is the Japanese word for ‘mystery teachings’. It is aimed at Level II practitioners or established Reiki Masters who wish to continue their personal journey, a journey that is ongoing long after you complete the Shinpiden course. It is therefore not just about teaching and is even suitable for those who wish to simply develop their personal Reiki practise and occasionally teach those around them.
Self-empowerment is attained in Shinpiden through a strong energetic connection to the source of Reiki. It is also the result of the confidence you will feel as a result of your thorough knowledge of Reiki — how it works, what all the variations on Reiki actually are, where Reiki stands in the world today, the Japanese symbols, mantras and gestures and their connection to Japanese philosophies and what the origin of the spiritual nature of Reiki is.
